Bruce and Robert both share a passion for teaching woodworking to people of all skill levels. From the absolute beginner to the advanced amateur and beyond, they offer one-on-one instruction in a relaxed atmosphere, or they can travel to you.
Bruce "Doc" Smith specializes in Wood Carving and Wood Burning (Pyrography) instruction. Bruce has been carving caricatures and relief carving for almost 20 years, and has been involved in carving clubs, seminars, and carving instruction for many years. He is the co-founder of the River Valley WoodCarvers Association in Northern Kentucky.
Bruce is particularly good with newcomers to the world of carving both because of his passion for carving and because he has never forgotten the simple joy of carving his first few pieces. Bruce excels at building confidence in first time carvers through a "can-do" attitude, and his caring, patient instruction.
Because he is versed in numerous styles of carving the student is not locked in to one particular methodology. Bruce easily adapts his teaching style to the needs of the student, ensuring a successful and enjoyable carving experience.
Bruce's work has been featured in Chip Chats Magazine® on several occasions, as well as national and local wood carving shows.
